Thank you Scott! Look forward to a resolution. I did some trouble shooting, but nothing i tried made a difference. Now I know why. Nothing shocks me with Apple anymore.

I went out this morning, and upon my return, my garage door opened as it should. I will see if this happens again when i leave and return again. Not sure what was changed.

Thanks for posting, this was the only thing that I couldn’t get working on the 17 PM. Ironically, other apps that rely on proximity geo fencing and Bluetooth seem to be working.

For me, iphone 17 pro, it works when using the auto-open Diagnostic Tool but it doesn’t otherwise. I am thinking it might be related to the adaptive power mode

Thanks for keeping all of us updated. Mine works intermittently, usually if i unlock my phone before i arrive. Closing function never worked so i created an IFTT app.

I too am having the same issue with both of my vehicles I tested with. The garage automations still work with Home Kit. It’s the vehicle integration that is problematic

Spoke too soon. Went out and back twice today and did not work either time like it did yesterday. .

We have been using a different method for our bluetooth detection than other companies because of bugs we found in iOS 13 and reported them to Apple.

I find it ironic that we implemented an alternative strategy to compensate for bugs in iOS Bluetooth, and then they introduced more bugs that cause our workaround to fail.

We have a beta app being released as soon as Apple approves it. Hopefully it resolves the issues. We reviewed a bunch of bug reports and we can see a pattern of what parts of Bluetooth are failing and what parts are working. So we adjusted our code to use the parts of Bluetooth that are working on iPhone 17 models and tossed the stuff that doesn’t. However, if Apple still didn’t fix that original bug that was introduced back in iOS 13 we will need to do more work to deal with this. Hopefully they fixed it. Should know more tomorrow.

With the new iOS update today that mentions loss of Bluetooth connection, I’m optimistic.🤞

iPhone 17 Pro, updated to 26.0.1, got added to the TestFlight, the door opened on my first drive since the TestFlight & iOS combo, but In the subsequent arrival, it did NOT trigger the sensor and the garage door did not open

Is there an ETA for the new IOS version with the fix?

The issue is present in iOS 26.1 which is the developer beta release that slated for public release at the end of this month so if you are expecting something from Apple its gonna be a while.

I have been having this same issue but when I came home today the garage door opened.  Apple released 26.1 beta 2 yesterday and I am wondering if perhaps the issue has been repaired?  I will test this more tomorrow to make sure it was not a fluke.

Just adding my data points. No auto open successes until yesterday when I installed the new iOS beta and I am now 2/2 successful.

    iOS 26.1 PB2 (23B5059e)
    iPhone 17 Pro
    Tailwind app V2.52
    Tailwind firmware V10.80

Likewise, I also installed the 26.1 dev beta 2 and things started working again.  Fingers crossed that this problem has been addressed.

Donald Powers could you please send a bug report from the Tailwind app and then email support@gotailwind.com to let us know you sent it? I would like to check it and make sure the issue is resolved and it wasn't some kind of lucky fluke. You can find this by tapping "Settings" in the bottom right corner of the home screen and scrolling to the bottom.

Sure would be great if they fixed it. We have been busy creating a workaround solution, but if Apple has truly fixed the problem we can pull back on our workaround efforts and get back to work on other tasks. We just don't have an iPhone 17 to test with yet so we can't say for sure it is resolved for iPhone 17 users.

    It does sound promising though!

Monday worked with my phone unlocked. Yesterday my phone was locked and it didn’t work. Today I unlocked my phone before approaching my house and it opened. I never had to do that before.

Same issue here and I can confirm that auto open works with the iphone unlocked when approaching or when using the sensor diagnostic tool.  I'm glad I found this thread and will be watching for the 26.1 update.

I have the beta 26.1 on my iPhone 17 pro max. It seems to work intermittently. It auto opened the door yesterday when I arrived home but did not auto close this morning when leaving

Steve Mccauley please make sure you have iOS 26.1 beta 2 installed. Also if you are running the beta version of the Tailwind app through TestFlight, try the public version from the app store. The current beta app version has a bug in it that was introduced while we were creating a workaround to the iOS 26.0 issue. We are rolling back that change now that Apple has fixed the bug in iOS 26.1 beta 2.

Hi Scott. Happy Turkey Day! Mine just worked for the first time since I got my 17 Pro Max a couple of weeks ago. iOS 26.1 (23B5059e) since maybe last Wednesday, but just turned my TVS off then on before work this morning, then going more than the minimum distance away from it at work. ETA: I'm not on TestFlight.
