As we continue to make improvements to our services we will occasionally reach points where updates cannot be backwards compatible. At the time of writing this article in May 2025, we are rolling out an updated user account structure that will allow us to expand our services and offer our customers more options and features.
App updates will notify users that they must migrate their account to the new structure. This is not optional, and is a simple tap in the app when prompted. The app will take care of the migration automatically and will also push any necessary firmware updates to your devices (assuming they are online) to ensure compatibility is preserved.
Note that the upgraded account structure is transparent to you. When we say "account structure" we are referring to how our database handles account rules, logins, etc. This is not due to a security concern. This is strictly to allow us to bring you more features.
Once your account is migrated it cannot be rolled back. A migrated account is not compatible with older versions of the Tailwind app or device firmware.
These changes do not impact integrations with other platforms such as Google Home, Apple HomeKit, Smart Things, IFTTT, Home Assistant, our local control API, etc.
