Comcast xfinity problems

I've been on a support chat with xfinity though their Facebook page for more than 2.5 hours trying to get it escalated. Maybe begging is a better word. I plan on posting screenshots of the chat to show everyone we are trying desperately.

So far xfinity has hung up on us the moment they found out we are not a new customer calling.

They require a service address in their area and a valid xfinity account to even put us into the voicemail hell system to make us even think we might get some support. Since we cannot provide those, even their chatbot hangs up on us.

We submitted the formal request to have the server unblocked yesterday, but that gets submitted through a web form and there's no assurance it will get acted upon.

This should only affect users who are renting modems from Comcast - if you're doing that, don't do that. Buying your own equipment will save you money pretty quickly and it's better than what they rent.

Yea, but as soon as there is a problem, Comcast will fingerpoint to the modem and the modem manufacturers will fingerpoint to Comcast. To save myself that the nightmare I just rent from Comcast and then it's alllllll their problem.

I fixed the issue by messing with the advanced security, as suggested in this post. (Had issues with iphone and android, with a rented Comcast modem.)

Evdryst fair point :P I just don't like paying $15/mo for inferior equipment, but the support is a fair argument. I have spent hours telling idiots "it's not my equipment" before finally getting service.

Scott Riesebosch that's crazy! You can use my account info if it would help you. Not sure if there's a pm option here but you should have my info :P

Can confirm that SmartThings/Tailwind integration has started working again with xfinity Advanced Security enabled.
