Beta Test
Scott,
Moving this from "Unable to use auto-open or access related features in new android app" post
Good news:
-- Can see vehicles and their settings without app crashing
Bad news:
-- auto-open still not working with multiple paired vehicles
--garage stopping half-way down using garage control on the app itself
Notes:
After installing update, I forced stop on the app, cleared the cache
I did not delete the app entirely before updating with the beta
I did not restart my phone after updating with the beta
Permissions on the app in android settings are allowing location "all of the time"
Questions:
What is the importance of "Locations" in the settings? It didn't seem to affect the "auto-open" feature working whether setting were 'all locations' or 'garage'

Thanks Charles. Yes we had a report from another customer that was having similar issues (could not access vehicle menu, etc) and when he tried the beta he had the same experience - screens were working again but auto-open was not working.
Regarding "Locations" just think of them as "tags". So you can view your devices according to location, and you can assign your vehicle to a location or multiple locations. Then when you configure your vehicle you must assign it to that location. Once assigned to that location you can then configure the auto-open / close to operate up to 3 doors that are also tagged as being assigned to that location.
The "Locations" menu needs some attention. It's not intuitive the way it is. That menu is supposed to simply be a list of the locations you have created, and you can add / edit / delete them. I need to tell the team to get rid of "all locations" and you should not be "selecting" a location in that screen. What you're doing when you select a location in that screen is you're selecting which location you want to view in the Home Screen. So it's the same as if you went to the Home Screen and selected "all locations" or a specific location - it shows only devices at a specific location or all.
Could you please send a bug report from the beta app within a couple minutes of the auto-open failing? I'll tell the guys to specifically watch for bug reports coming from your account as they will have different details due to the beta.Comment actions -
Beta update:
1. Auto-open failed this morning. Sent bug report within a few minutes as requested

2. Auto-open seems to be working this evening. I did have to restart my phone around midday. Not sure if it was a phone restart that was needed OR if Tailwind did something system wide on their end
3. Voice notification "Your garage door just opened/closed" now gone again and is replaced by a generic notification sound on the phone

Auto-open no not working (at all) for multiple bluetooth connected vehicles for several days
Rebooted Tailwind controller
Rebooted phone
Uninstalled and reinstalled APK. Cleared caches, etc.
App control of garages (mannually) works fine close and far away. Just not vehicles, etc.

Hi Charles, glad to hear the app isn’t crashing anymore! Regarding your issues:
-
Auto-open not working with multiple vehicles – this often depends on the app correctly detecting each vehicle’s proximity. Make sure each vehicle has a unique identifier and is paired individually.
-
Garage stopping mid-way – could be a beta bug; try restarting your phone after the update, as some background services may not have fully initialized.
-
Location settings – “All locations” vs. “Garage” primarily affects geofencing triggers. For auto-open, the app needs full location access to detect your vehicle’s approach reliably.
Beta apps can have quirks, so these steps often resolve most issues. If problems persist, report them with logs to the beta team.
