Weird auto open behavior
I am using an iphone and in the past it was "usually" opening when I approached the garage but I had to be very close (1 car length) I had to replace my garage door opener and set everything up again. I have it set to auto open at default 100ft and auto close is off.
Now when I arrive home the garage does not open so I manually open it and park and close the garage. As I walk away from my car TW triggers the garage and the door opens! Shouldn't it know that the garage just closed? It is doing this everytime lately so it is repeatable. Maybe need a timeout so door doesn't reopen if it just closed?
Thanks

Hi Adrian,
Sorry I missed your post initially. Auto-open relies on a number of things. We have a troubleshooting article here
However, what you are describing is being addressed in an upcoming app update. Essentially what's happening is that you arrive home and either your garage location is slightly off, your GPS on your phone is slightly off, or the network connectivity is interrupted as you arrive home.
The garage location / GPS being slightly off can mean you have not penetrated that 100 foot circle around your garage - so technically you are not yet "home". My advice would be to try increasing the auto-open distance to 150 feet to see if that helps - and possibly re-learn the garage location. Since you had to be "very close" I suspect re-learning the garage location and increasing auto-open to 150 or even 200 feet will fix this.
When you arrive home your phone will grab onto the wifi network at the first possible moment, even if the wifi signal is weak. So while Tailwind is trying to send the open command, your phone has potentially latched onto a really weak, useless wifi signal. Moving auto-open back to 150 feet or 200 feet means it can transmit the signal to open the door while you are still firmly on the mobile network - so the command gets through right away.
The updated app improves the performance of the system when you arrive home and there is some sort of network connection issue. Currently the app will continue to try and "auto-open" the door a little too long, so if the network connection is interrupted it doesn't know the door opened by remote control, and the phone keeps trying to open the door.
This should be fixed in the pending app update.

I think I figured out the worst part of the problem. I am in new construction and google doesn't know my address yet even though I tried to update it in their system. So for siri/google I have to use a house on the next street over for my address I bet that is the issue. I will also try retraining it as well. Weird thing is that it works perfectly sometimes - like today it opened a good 100ft away just when I would have wanted it to lol.
Thanks!

Adrian,
I would try re-teaching the garage location. You can do that in the device settings screen (gear icon beside your garage device). The actual address doesn't matter - that's just for your reference. The actual system uses the learned GPS coordinates, not a street / house number.
Please also make sure you have updated your vehicle sensor firmware at least 1 time, and that you're running iOS 13.
One final thing - you might want to restart your iPhone. Sometimes the location services can update slowly and with less accuracy. A phone restart can fix this (as can toggling location services off / on sometimes as well).
