I'm not aware of any way to do this. Have you seen other apps with this type of functionality?

I know what Ben is looking for, and I have a suggestion that may or may not be possible. I would also love this if it worked.
For Alexa, you have 2 skills. I'm not sure which of the 2 it is, but one of them lists the device type as a lock in Alexa, allowing you to "lock" and "unlock" the garage door with an Alexa shortcut button in the app.
I just purchased an actual smart door lock for my house which shows in Google Home as a lock. There is then a shortcut in Google Home to be able to lock and unlock the device.
Would it be possible to list the Tailwind in Google home as a lock instead of garage this it is currently set as? This might allow Google Home to control the Tailwind with a shortcut button.
I am not a smart home developer by any means, but I'm wondering if this might be the trick to get it to work.
I would appreciate any help you could provide, and would assist with any testing that might be required. Love the Tailwind as-is, but could definitely use this improvement.
Thanks for your help,

Hi James,
Yes and no. Google holds all the cards when it comes to Google Home functionality. They actually required that we send them hardware and they tested it to verify performance with Google Home. So Google 100% knows that the device is a garage door controller and classified it as such in their system.
For some reason Google has created actionable garage door icons in their hubs, like the Nest hub for example. So you CAN tap on the garage door icons in a Nest hub and control the door. However they did not implement this in their Google Home smartphone apps yet. I've been chasing them for years to add this and they've told me numerous times "we're working on it", but it isn't done yet.
The short story is - this is all on Google and they are way behind their competitors on this. Hopefully they get it done soon.

Wow, it sounds like you're all over this. Thanks for advocating for what the users want. The Tailwind app works perfectly for the button push, but I like that I have all (most) of my smart device shortcuts at the ready in Google Home. This is the only one that doesn't have an actionable button. Get with it, Google. Thanks again for a great product, Scott!
