Tailwind Sensor auto open/close
Today is the first, I have an iPhone and have been using Tailwind for about 2 years now. In one of the cars I have, I took the sensor out and changed the battery. I forgot to put the sensor back inside the car. Tailwind still opens the garage door when I approach. I double-checked the car to make sure there was no other sensor. Is Tailwind work without a sensor on iPhone now? my other car with the sensor is inside the garage.

Hi Benjamin,
No it should not do that. That is an Apple OS bug. iOS is responsible for detecting the presence / absence of a vehicle sensor, and it reports that state (present or absent) to the Tailwind app. If it reports it as present, the Tailwind app begins location tracking and will auto-open as you approach. If iOS reports the sensor as absent, the Tailwind app does not track location and does not auto-open as you approach. The core issue is that iOS "misses" the event of the sensor going out of range under certain conditions and then it gets "stuck" that way - reporting that the sensor is ALWAYS in range even when it is not.
There are 2 ways to clear this "stuck" state.
1) Restart the phone
2) Bring all vehicle sensors back into range so iOS can detect them, and then go back out of range again, giving iOS another shot at detecting them going out of range again. The reason you have to bring all of them back into range is because there is no way of knowing which one got "stuck" in range in iOS - unless of course you only have 1 sensor configured to work with a certain door and that door is the one that keeps opening.
We are going to release an app update hopefully shortly that anticipates this Apple OS bug and compensates for it. We reported this bug to Apple as well as many GBs of logs to help them fix it. They told us they fixed it in iOS 15, but unfortunately iOS 15 is actually far worse. iOS 15 actually now has trouble detecting when sensors come into range and go out of range, rendering all apps unreliable that operate by detecting the presence / absences of devices similar to Tailwind vehicle sensors.
So retail store apps and other apps are also affected.
It seems they made improvements in the beta iOS 15.1 not out yet, but its' still not perfect.

cthulhu what you are experiencing is ANOTHER iOS bug. Our next app update has been designed to combat that issue. Restarting the phone clears that bug.
Tao Apple has not fully fixed their bluetooth and location bugs in iOS 15.1 unfortunately. I am going to be sending out an email shortly to all customers with an update. It would have already gone out but during testing of our new email campaign software we discovered that Microsoft was sending everything to spam. That has been fixed and now we are just waiting on Amazon to authorize a setting change. We've never sent out this many emails before and it requires a setting change.
We are going to release our app update shortly despite all the iOS issues because the app update can at least mitigate some of the bugs. It can't fix everything because the bugs are just too severe. Even quite a few Tesla owners are finding that their phone keys are not working reliably anymore either. Normally they can walk up to the car and the door unlocks. That is also now inconsistent for a number of people. Even apps that rely on location updates in the background cannot be relied upon.
Apps that update location while in use still work - so navigation for example - that still works fine. It's stuff that has to happen in the background when the app is not being displayed on the screen that isn't working properly.
