Currently it is a basic app allowing control and status updates in the infotainment screen. It is on our roadmap to expand the capabilities of it, but currently there isn't a timeline for this. We've been focused on launching our 2nd generation controllers and major overhauls to our phone-based apps.

Fair enough I guess, just seems questionable why to release it at all if that's the case.

I don't really understand the focus on overhauling the app really, part of what I've loved about my Tailwind is that I never have to use the app, it just does what I need without me thinking about it, that was the entire reason I purchased it.  Other than the occasional change to the setup, I never even open the app.

I’m also experiencing a similar issue with the Tailwind app on Android Automotive. It only supports manual door control, and I couldn’t find detailed info or automation options. Would be great to know if future updates will include automation or integration with vehicle actions like starting or shifting gears.

We started by offering a basic, minimalist interface for this that allows our customers to control their doors and view door status through their "Google Built-In" Infotainment systems. When we have the bandwidth we will expand this. Currently all the automations for the Tailwind system are supported and available in the smartphone version of our app.

From what’s currently available, the Tailwind app on Android Automotive mainly supports manual door control. Full automation—like opening the garage door when the car starts or shifts into gear—is not yet supported directly from the car app. For now, automation still relies on the phone or smart home integration.

If you want true in-car automation, I’d suggest checking if Tailwind’s API or smart home platforms (like HomeKit, Alexa, or Google Home) can bridge the automation, then monitor for updates—they may add native car automation in future releases.
