Incorrect wiring information for Liftmaster MT5011U

Hi,

Trying to set this up with a Chamberlain/Liftmaster MT5011U.  The wiring instructions from the site say to connect to the open and close terminals.

I happen to be an electrical engineer, so if I make some assumptions, I would assume you just use a relay to short those together and that on most garage door openers that does the trick.  However from the MT5011U documentation, those are designed to be switched to ground, rather than to each other.  (semi-industrial unit, separate open/close/stop buttons.)  Page 15 here https://www.devancocanada.com/files/manuals/MT5011U:Installation-manual.pdf

Do you have an alternate control scheme or workaround?  It does appear to be compatible with single button remotes, so I would guess the adapter referenced in this link would work?
