Thanks P. I have captured your feature requests. They will be reviewed. We are constantly evaluating and prioritizing feature requests to drive our development schedule.

Tailwind was originally conceived and created to do a lot of different things, so yes there are absolutely other smart devices in our future :)

And by the way, you can already schedule the door to open / close at a certain time of day using the IFTTT integration.

For the remote start problem, couldn't the system just open the door as soon as the vehicle is started (i.e. bluetooth is detected)?

    Ian,

Do you mean if a user has remote start on their vehicle and they activate it while the car is in the garage?

Yes, that's what I imagined the use case would be: remote-starting your car while it's in the garage, and having the door open automatically at the same time. Besides just the convenience of having the door open when you're ready to go, this would also prevent you from filling up your garage with exhaust fumes.

Well first of all thanks for the response Scott! I set up IFTTT and totally forgot about using the clock as a trigger lol

Secondly, detecting bluetooth in the car while remote started probably wouldn't work, most infotainment systems (like my mazda) don't even recieve power while remote started until the drive opens the door and taps the brake pedal.

The Tailwind commands come from the phone, so if you remote started your car, the Tailwind system would not know it unless the Bluetooth connection to the vehicle was made, which means your phone would have to be in range of the car and as P pointed out, the power to the infotainment system is often not turned on during remote start.

There are so many possibilities of things we CAN do though. It's mind blowing really because Tailwind has Bluetooth and WiFi inside. it has an expansion port for more accessories to be added. The possibilities give us inspiration and headaches at the same time :)

One way you can do this if your car has WIFI and you have a WIFI router (i.e. Google Wifi)  that has IFTTT integration.  Basically,  you setup a IFTTT that will open the garage door when your car WIFI joins your Google WIFI network.   YMMV since it could cause you garage to open if you park your car outside of your house but close enough to have join the WIFI network.
