    Hi Ed,

    Please try the following steps:

When you added your Tailwind controller to your account our system sent you a HomeKit welcome email with your HomeKit setup code as well as instructions for resetting HomeKit on your controller. Please be sure you are following those instructions to add it, and also try the reset instruction if it is still giving you trouble.

If you've tried all of that and it's still not adding to Apple Home, or it adds to Apple Home but then doesn't seem to respond, please proceed with the steps below:

If you have a mesh network please make sure your Tailwind controller is on the same network as your HomeKit hub device - which in your case is your Apple TV. So for example, if you have a guest network or a separated 2.4 and 5GHz network, the hub and Tailwind need to be on the same network or it won't work with HomeKit.

Restart your iPhone (or whatever Apple device you are using the Home app on) as well as your Apple TV. Please also restart your WiFi router / network and the Tailwind controller. I've also read that some people find that leaving all Apple products turned off for more than 15 minutes seems to help.

Please try bringing the Tailwind controller close to your router, especially if you have a distributed WiFi network such as a mesh network or if you're using a WiFi extender to reach the garage. Note - if you are using a WiFi extender and Tailwind is connecting to that you may need to re-teach it the WiFi credentials for your main router, which can easily be done by tapping the gear icon to the right of your Tailwind device in the app and then tap "WiFi settings".

Apple does not really give us any tools to troubleshoot HomeKit related issues. The steps mentioned above are based on feedback from customers as well as researching general HomeKit help forums online.

    Scott,

Thank you for the note.  I feel like I've tried all of these, but I gave it another go this morning.

I verified that the Tailwind controller was removed from my Apple Home

I powered off my entire home network.  I've got UniFi with 4 distributed access points for indoor and outdoor coverage.  I powered off my Apple TV.  I powered off my phone.  I powered off the Tailwind Controller.

I powered back on the Tailwind and the home network.  Verified that Tailwind was working via the app.

I reset the HomeKit on the Tailwind with the 5 second button press.

I then left the Apple TV off and tried to add to my home via QR code.  Operation timed out.  Tried again and operation timed out.  this was an error from Home Kit that popped up within a few seconds of trying.

I tried via the my device is not showing up - and I could see the garage door opener listed, so i tapped it and entered the code - operation timed out

I powered on the Apple TV and tried again.

Scanned via QR code and got the error that the device was already part of another home.

Did the Tailwind controller reset again with 5 second button press

Scanned via QR code and IT WORKED

I don't know what combination of what resolved it, but that was a lot of effort over the past week just to get this added.  Hopefully it stays that way.
