    Hi Nathan,

Here is an Apple help article on HomeKit notifications https://support.apple.com/en-ca/105042

Harold - does this only happen when you are in your car? In other words, if you just stand in your garage with your phone locked, not in your car, and you open or close the garage door with your wall control do you receive the verbal notification?

The verbal / spoken notification delivery is handled differently depending on type of phone (iPhone or Android), OS version, any "Focus" or "do not disturb" modes, and what the phone is connected to. In other words - take something that seems simple on the surface and make it really complicated.

I'm not really sure which setting might be doing that as far as the notification sound, but if you try that experiment at least you'll be able to determine if it's related to being connected to the vehicle bluetooth.

Also - if you are using an iPhone (I suspect you are given you're using a vehicle sensor - usually means iPhone but not always), and if you happen to have an Apple Watch and your Apple Watch is set to silent - your iPhone will send messages to your Apple Watch if you're wearing it. if it is set to silent, you won't hear the verbal notifications. You turn off your watch and suddenly you hear them again. It's not fun trying to debug why notifications don't play in certain cases. Loads of posts about notification sounds in all kinds of use cases, phones, and apps.

Amazon is the best source we've found, and we've been recommending the ones at this link (full vehicle sensor manual also at the same link) https://gotailwind.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020649392-Tailwind-Vehicle-Sensor-User-Manual

    Hi Nathan,

I have a similar problem. When I open the door I get all the notifications like normal. I have always backed out of the garage, stopped and close the door. When I use the remote door closes no announcements. When I use the app I get the announcement have notifications set for all events with verbal notification.  It's not really a major issue but it bugs the heck out of me.

Another quick question the coin cell battery in the vehicle sensor is a CR-2477 does anybody know if there is substitute CR battery that can be used? Nobody seems to have one Crappy Tire is showing 4 weeks I ordered it from my online battery seller but I'm looking at Monday for delivery.

The notifications are all set up as per the Apple article you linked. Apple home sends me a notification when the door is opened with a remote or a physical button, just not when I use my iPhone to toggle the door to open. Is that normal?

    Hi Scott,

I have been living in electrical purgatory for the last couple of weeks. Starting with my modem/router dieing so new  ssid and password. Just got everything up and running. So Apple threw a curve ball with the latest updates after I installed them 1/2 of my devices were non responsive. I have had the odd one that does that but never this many at one time. I found a rather interesting I think I know why it was done but if effects other devices is a open question.  So with Focus you need to have all devices on the same network same apple id. With the apple tv DnD is not activated when the other devices go into Focus. So when Focus DnD is activated on my apple tv my phone and iPad. I want to go through the various combination and see what I can find.
