Yellow light and app troubles

Have had this sitting around for a year or two and finally got around to setting up. Once finished with the hardware part, I got the app on Android and created an account and followed the steps. I get the red light, reset it to blue, go to the app and it finds it then immediately says connecting, but the grayed out background says enter WiFi password. It never actually connects and if I click the screen and type my WiFi password I can't click the connect button. So if I ignore all that and instead click the Tailwind WiFi signal it emits, connect it to my home WiFi, I can get through the set up and get the light yellow. But then it just stays yellow and says it is offline. So I'm stuck with not being able to go any further.
