Service Down.....again
When I purchased this I had no idea that it is dependent upon a server somewhere, I thought it was just "my house". Had I known that my garage door opener not work due to some server in some other part of the world, I probably would not have purchased this. When it works, it is AWESOME! But when it goes down - like it is now - it sucks.

I personally no longer recommend this device. When it is down it is down for an extended period of time. So wait until they can get a local control in place and or make sure to keep your regular remote in the car.
I purchased mine the end of August and probably installed it sometime in mid September.. So from 9/1/2020 to 12/04/2020 and there have been 3 major outages. The problem with these outages are that they are not for minutes or even a few hours. The outages last long enough that it can be impactful.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to install it now. I'll look for another solution.
I really don't know why some of these smart devices have to communicate to their servers to work. Internet is up at the house, phone is on the same network and it has access to the garage, no need to it to not work just because the server is down.
Have same issue with Nest Hello. When Nest service goes down, you don't get notifications somebody is at your door or anything. Again, it's on the local network with access to the internet. Build the logic in to the device and not have it rely on the 'cloud'. QNAP/Synology both work and send notifications even when their service is down. Same with UniFi.
Disappointing to say the least.

This is 2020 and problems come up. Things could be worst I'm sure Scott's working on it as hard as he can. Overall I would buy the same system again. I have had the worst things happened this year. Just for Laughs I set out a trap to catch an armadill. Ended up catching a skunk. Have fun with that.

Part of my frustration is the duration of the outages and nothing but "we are on it" from the company. When our power goes out, our power company will give an estimate on how long the power will be out. When I hear "we are on it" - it reminds me of the auto repair shop, that when you call to get an update on your car, they say "I got 3 of best guys on it right now".

Charles Eckert - you can't blame it on 'it's just 2020, deal with it'. It's bad designSucks about the skunk.... but on the plus sign, at least the trap actually worked and it didn't have to 'call home' first and the service was down and wouldn't work ;)

Please for the love of god get a proper change management process in place with a valid backout plan. Furthermore, design a Business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) plan in case of failure. Your system is in AWS, so it shouldn’t be that difficult to implement a strategy that limits downtime to a few hours or less. A basic plan could be as simple as taking a full backup of your system prior to implementing a change. If a change doesn’t work then restore to the previous backup. Unless there is a catastrophic failure with multiple AWS data centers, outages should not be measured in “days”.
