    Hi Levi,

Thank you for posting this. Yes we can do that.

Could you please email me at support@gotailwind.com and send me a Google Image? Or send me your address and I'll look it up? The reason is because we are also working on something else already that could completely solve this problem for you and I want to make sure I understand your case clearly.

my gate is slow to open, so I set up 750 ft (which is not far enough for it to completely open as I arrive)

but it then opens when I am on nearby streets in the neighborhood.

maybe in addition to just radius/distance, allow the user to create trigger areas on roads?

so if I have three roads leading to my home, I can set three trigger areas one on each road.

and whenever the vehicle enters/leaves the trigger area on the road, the gate will open.

this could be set in addition to the radius/distance since for auto closing (which I do not use for my gates) radius makes more sense.

I also suggested this a year or two ago although my situation isn't as bad as Levi's.  The product is excellent, and I like the fact that it's hard wired versus battery powered tilt sensors.  However, I live on a road in which we travel both directions.  We occasionally need to drive right past our house which has a 150 foot driveway to the garage.  Even at 30 to 40 miles per hour (speed limit is 35 mph), the door goes up.  I could shorten the auto-open distance, but then it would be quicker to just use the remote since the doors wouldn’t start opening until I’m right in front of them.  A 450 foot auto-open distance currently works the best for us since the door is just finishing opening when we get to it – no waiting at all to pull in.  My request:  Could you add a speed threshold parameter that a vehicle would have to be under in order to start a door auto-opening?  In our case, I would think that 25 to 30 mph would be an ideal setting so that we could go past our house at around the speed limit without triggering a door open event.  In fact, even if the parameter weren’t settable by a user, I would think that a 25 mph threshold would be ideal for most users as a default anyway.

    Thanks!

Hi Scott.  Now I'm a bit desperate for this feature.  We just started heating our garage just to keep it above freezing, but if I forget and drive past our house the door will go up, most of the heat will escape, and the heater will turn on to heat the great outdoors.  I tried creating an IFTTT filter to lower the temperature on the thermostat so that were at least not heating the outdoors, but IFTTT is never able to read the temperature to set it to a new value.  Even if this worked, it would still defeat the purpose of heating the garage to prevent freezing.  Is there any chance you can get the current speed as a parameter for automatic open/close activation into beta?

    Hi Carey,

I'll tell the team to fast track this one. It shouldn't be too difficult. We've just been swamped with dealing with the iOS 15 bugs and also Samsung did some nasty things with battery management in their implementation of Android 11 and 12, so it's had us in bug fix mode for a few months and haven't really had time to add any features.
