Thanks for the feedback Larry. This is one of the platforms we are considering.

Noted. Currently working on Home Assistant and I'll tell the team to see what it is going to take for Hubitat next.

We are also going to release public APIs so users can implement whatever they would like :)

Thanks Scott. That is good new on the API front too.

If your API makes local control available, I'm sure the Hubitat community will jump on it like a duck on a june bug, and have an initial device handler in relatively short order.

We are currently testing local control firmware. We are going to release it soon. Once we release that I'm sure the Habitat and other communities will develop integrations in no time :)

We don't have local controlled nailed down yet but we do already have firmware in internal testing that has local control. The initial APIs we are releasing shortly are cloud based. Local will come. Apple HomeKit is really consuming a lot of our resources at the moment.

Also +1 on the Hubitat front. Seems like lots of Smartthings guys are transferring over. Only powerful local option so far! Really excited that you guys are releasing an API!! (Like was mentioned earlier, if there's an API available it will probably take a week for Hubitat community to make a driver for it)

Has there been any movement on this integration?  I am just wondering where things are at since it looks like IFTTT is probably going to die off now.

Smartthings has tanked since Samsung took it over.  That is why I switched to Hubitat.  Much more stable, faster and local control.  +10 for Hubitat support please!  I would LOVE this.

I changed over to Hubitat from ST a year ago. Local control and no more ST headaches.

How are the local APIs and Hubitat integration progressing?

There's two on HPM, not sure of they're the same ones. Plan to review the code tomorrow and see what I think and decide if I want to roll my own.

I'm the author of https://github.com/Gelix/HubitatTailwind.  Chaue.shen (Kaimyn) and I collaborated on creating our two different versions.  As far as I know, both versions function well but have some minor differences (polling, etc.).  I've been using my version on my 5 controllers 12 door mess without issue for the past month.

I bought a Hubitat hub over a year ago. It has lots of advantages. I agree with the need for integration for this.

Thanks everyone. Ties right in with the local APIs we are testing. As you probably know we are having an extended outage at the moment, so yes the local control option is definitely on our minds and our roadmap.

Adding another +1 to Hubitat and local integration. :)

Any sense of when in 2021 we might start to see this (Q1, 1H, etc)?

In addition to the outages, IFTTT makes me nervous.. twice in the past few months it randomly opened the garage door late at night after everyone had gone to sleep, and it was only dumb luck that we caught it both times to close it back up. Tailwind is the only thing keeping me on IFTTT at the moment.

Let me “beat a dead horse” here.

I currently have SmartThings hubs in 3 properties. My own home, and two vacation rentals 1,000 miles away.

It actually seems, since Samsung bought ST, that the platform has “regressed”! Samsung insisted on migrating users to their new Samsung ST app platform.

The new app included fairly useless integrations for their appliances and TV’s but eliminated much of the functionality and control over Zwave and Zigbee devices provided in the “classic” app. For a long time you were able to take a “two fisted” approach, where you used the classic app for advanced control of functions and the new app for everything else. Then, about two months ago, Samsung slammed the door on the classic app and forced everyone to permanently migrate to the new app.

I have not made the leap yet, but Hubitat is where I am headed for all three properties. That platform seems to have adopted the attitude, functionality, and community programming/scripting (groovy) ability which made ST such a huge success in the beginning.

    Thanks for listening,

    Brent

Another vote for Hubitat. Finally got off that disaster Wink and would love to bring my garage door into my hub.

+1 Looking to build in the near future and would love to purchase tailwind for my openers but will probably go a different direction without local Hubitat integration.  I have had too many internet issues in my area and that is why I moved from Smartthings to Hubitat to begin with.

We have local APIs in internal testing right now. We were working on cloud-based APIs that we were going to release but we halted that because our customers really wanted local APIs - so that's what we are going to deliver.

Can't wait.  If you don't have anyone "on the inside" working on it I'll write a community driver for it on day one lol.

Scott Riesebosch Is there any update/movement on the API and potential for integration with Hubitat?

    I just found two:

    https://github.com/kaimyn/Hubitat and https://github.com/Gelix/HubitatTailwind

It seems like kaimyn's is a bit more mature, but I haven't tried either one yet.

This thread has some info about them:
    https://community.hubitat.com/t/code-review-tailwind-garage-door/79305?u=datavortex

Where was the third?  Has anyone tried them yet?
