Installing Tailwind between garage doors?

I have 2 different kinds of garage door openers.  One of them, a Liftmaster 3800 is a Jackshaft garage door opener (because I have a highlift garage door installation on one side).  This means the garage door opener sits flush with the garage door and doesn't sit in the middle of the garage.

My other garage door opener is a "normal" garage door opener that sits in the middle of the garage.

Because the wires from the door sensor have to run to the Tailwind unit and then from there the control wires for the garage door opener - I am thinking it makes more sense to mount the Tailwind on the wall in between the garage doors and then run the wire along the rail or the chain drive (in my case the sensor wires run along the chain drive). I already have a long extension cord running to the Liftmaster so power isn't an issue.

If I do it the way the instructions recommend, I would have to run the door sensor for the jackshaft unit from the door to the Tailwind unit attached to the "normal" garage door unit, then back to the jackshaft unit which is near the garage door.

I have to verify that the wires will reach, but do you forsee any issues with this?  It means the Tailwind unit will sit much lower and accessible in the event that I need to ever reset it, and if I ever change garage door openers, I would simply have to re-run the wire to the "normal" garage door opener.
