Sensor wire on garage door motor

I have my two tailwind wires wired into the right garage door connections but when the door starts to open or close it moves about a foot and raises back all the way to the open position. Why is this happening?

  Hi Mark,

  You mentioned that when the door starts to open or close (meaning travelling up or down) it moves about a foot and raises back up to the open position. This leads me to believe that the problem is only when closing the door and not opening the door - otherwise the door would not "raise back all the way up".
  
  If this is only happening during closing, are you getting any indications of a fault with your opener such as the light flashing a bunch of times? Normally this indicates an issue with the safety sensors of the opener.
