You've gotten your Alexa connected to your Tailwind iQ3 garage door controller by following our YouTube video. If not, please go check it out https://youtu.be/EUvT4XMEv2Y
Now it's time to have some fun with it. Tailwind has created 2 Alexa skills, and they work quite differently. You can enable both skills at the same time. If you're using the Tailwind Custom skill (which begins with "Alexa, ask Tailwind...."), then you can only say the EXACT PHRASES listed in the skill.
You can use this skill to open / close / check each door, or even check / close all doors at once, but you have to use the phrases shown and it WILL NOT pick up your custom device + door names. The Custom Skill can only work with one Tailwind controller. You "map" your commands to that controller when you tap on "select device" in the Alexa Integration setup.
Now, if you're using the Tailwind Smart Home skill (which means you DO NOT have to say "Ask Tailwind...") it will work with multiple Tailwind controllers AND pick up the custom device + door names (names explained in the Alexa setup video link at the top of this article), it will allow your garage doors to show up in the Alexa app during the "Discover Devices" step. Amazon controls all the phrases when you use the Smart Home skill. You MIGHT have to use the words "lock" and "unlock" for "close" and "open" respectively. Go ahead and try the words "open" and "close" and see if it works for you. If not, use "lock" and "unlock". The reason for this is that Amazon regards the garage door as a "door lock" device type in their system. It will also allow you to set up routines, like having Alexa announce when the garage door opens. One routine you CANNOT make is to open the door. Amazon restricts that functionality in routines.
You will also need to enable the unlock feature in the Alexa app. Go to device settings and you'll see the "unlock by app" and "unlock by voice" sliders there.
If you've enabled the custom Tailwind skill, try saying these EXACT PHRASES...
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open garage door”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open garage"
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open garage door 1”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open garage door 2”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open garage door 3”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open door 1”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open door 2”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open door 3”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to open gate"
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close all doors”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close garage door”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close garage"
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close garage door 1”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close garage door 2”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close garage door 3”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close door 1”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close door 2”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close door 3”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to close gate"
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to check garage door"
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to check door"
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to check garage"
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to check all doors”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to check all garage doors”
"Alexa, ask Tailwind to check gate"
If you've enabled the Tailwind Smart Home Skill, try saying these phrases, substituting your device + door name (names explained in the Alexa setup video linked at the top of this article)...
"Alexa, close the garage door.”
"Alexa, lock garage door 1”
"Alexa, unlock garage door 2” (you'll need to provide your PIN code)
"Alexa, lock garage door 3”
"Alexa, close the Home Gate”
"Alexa, open tool shed east door” (you'll need to provide your PIN code)
"Alexa, lock {custom door name}”
"Alexa, is the garage door closed?”
"Alexa, is garage door 1 open?”
"Alexa, is garage door 2 locked?”
"Alexa, is garage door 3 unlocked?”
"Alexa, is the Home Gate locked?”
"Alexa, is the tool shed east door closed?”
"Alexa, is {custom door name} closed?”
The Tailwind Mobile apps are available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Hope Amazon creates a device type. That way there can be some clean integrations with Echo, or with Hubitat.
sscheuri, I agree 100%. Scott is testing an api that could possibly support Hubitat.
